    MSU Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Grand Rapids Public Schools are hoping to make Grand Rapids children more FIT.The collective is working on a project called the FIT initiative which is funded by a 1 million grant from Blue Cross.Tracy Thompson director of the FIT program and outreach specialist in the MSU College of Human Medicine said the program aims to help all children regardless of body size.The directive is to address childhood obesity and were trying to be aware of the fact that its not just taking those who happen to be overweight but children of all sizes Thompson said.

    Kids who watch more TV are more likely to have high blood pressure according to findings published by MSU researchers. MSU professor of kinesiology Joe Eisenmann co-authored the study which was published in the August edition of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and said the most surprising result was a null finding.

    Its a competition no one wants to win Which Big Ten university has the highest tuition And which one had the biggest tuition increase for the 2009-10 year MSU has the sixth highest tuition in the Big Ten and the third largest tuition increase for 2009-10. A resident MSU freshman will pay about 10800 in tuition for 2009-10 an increase of about 5.2 percent according to information from MSU.

    MSUs philosophy and religious studies departments might soon be sharing office space.The Department of Religious Studies will move from its location in Morrill Hall to South Kedzie Hall where the Department of Philosophy is housed said Karin Wurst dean of the College of Arts and Letters.Since Morrill Hall will be razed the Department of Religious Studies will move to Kedzie Hall and will share administrative staff with the Department of Philosophy in order to realize cost savings Wurst said in an e-mail.Despite the move Wurst said the two departments will remain separate and the academic programs wont change.

    The first year of efforts to reduce energy usage by consolidating classrooms led to some green savings for MSU. During the 2008-09 year seven buildings that previously held classes and events in the evening saw the classes moved to more utilized buildings nearby to save energy said Jennifer Sowa a project coordinator in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Operations.
